HOUSEHOLD CONSUMPTION PREFERENCES AND PURCHASING BEHAVIOURS ON DAIRY PRODUCTS IN URBAN AREA OF ADANA

ABSTRACT



Dairy products have an important role in a sufficient and balanced nutrition. In this study, to examine the consumers’ behaviour on purchasing and consumption, a survey was carried out by using face-to-face interviewing method with the households in Adana city of Turkey. A factor analysis was realized to determine the highlights of consumers on purchasing dairy products. According to the analysis results, branded products, quality, hygiene and health, availableness, and finally price range were determined as important factors affecting the purchasing tendency. The results of factor analysis processed to cluster analysis and created two clusters. The consumers in the first cluster pay more attention to the factors that were branded products, quality, hygiene and health and availableness. The consumers in the second cluster were more sensitive to the price range and the other factors have less effect in purchasing behaviour.
